On Friday September 29th a group of students headed off for the annual fall retreat! We went to Virginia Beach and stayed with a student’s grandparents. It was nice to get away from campus for the weekend and spend time with friends. Friday night we played games together and enjoyed taking a moment to relax after a hectic week. Saturday morning we were treated to a delicious home cooked breakfast! It was a great way to start the day. We then played different faith games to help us understand each other’s faith journeys a little more. We were fortunate to have gorgeous weather all weekend, and we spent Saturday afternoon at the beach. We went to the Neptune Sand Castle Festival where we saw incredible sand sculptures. One of the sculptures was engraved with the first couple of verses from the book of John, which was neat to see since that is what we are studying in our bible study. All of the sculptures were unique and awe inspiring. We finished our time on the beach with a worship service, in which we were able to incorporate water from the ocean. It was truly a special experience, and was my favorite part of the retreat. Throughout worship the sun was shining brightly, the waves were big, and the wind was so powerful that I had no doubt that God was present. We ended the night watching a movie and snacking on way too many delicious cookies! The retreat was a much needed break from life on campus, and was a great opportunity for our group to get closer.
